Building a multi-million dollar company is not easy, especially when you do not have a family that could back you up with money. But today, I am going to talk about a man who did not only build a multi-million company but successfully ran it for 16 years too. I am talking about Terrence Chalk - a man who worked for a subcontractor, taught computer repair in college, and worked as a middle manager prior to founding his company. It was his passion for technology that helped him set a goal and work for it.
How Did it Start?
Well, it all started dramatically. He quit his $92,000 per annum job and founded his own company called Computek. Since he was interested in technology, he chose the managed service model for his company. At the time, the managed service model was new in the market plus, he managed to impress many people with his impressive speech. According to many reports, Chalk was very good at convincing people. Probably this was the reason he got many clients in a short period of time and by 2005, his company had a whopping 70TB of customer data hosted over 300 servers. At the time, his company was contributing massively in the IT sector.
In 2004, the ever-growing firm acquired Linx Logic and was renamed from Computek to Compulinx. After the acquisition, the company developed a unique software platform to host its customers' networks. During 16 years of operation, Chalk employed more than 50 people and served hundreds of clients worldwide. He was also nominated to the WPYB (White Plains Youth Bureau) and named businessperson of the year by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
So, what do you think? Isn't it an inspiring story?
